Etoille at Sunset

As you ascend the escalator from the Charles de Gaulle - Etoille metro station the first thing you see is the Arc de Triomph in all its hugeness. Its a pretty neat view. Sara's first time to see the Arc was on Monday night in the middle of a really neat sunset. We didn't go to the top to look out this time becuase we wanted to walk down the Champs Élysées before it got to dark. One thing I've never mentioned in my blog is that the name of the plaza on which the Arc de Triomph sits is Place Charles de Gaulle, and locals call it Etoille due to the fact that from above, the intersection of six of Paris's largest roads looks much like a star. This can get confusing when trying to get to the correct metro stop because you never see signs pointing to the Arc de Triomph, rather the aliases are listed. No matter what the name of the thing, it is certainly best seen with a Sara in front of it. After our Arc de Triomph praising we took a jaunt down Paris' most famous street, stopping only at the huge perfume store so we could catch a scent of some Parisian culture. The Champs Élysées is a lot more fun to walk down when I have someone to talk (a lot) to.
