Bonjour et bienvenue à mon blog! I started this blog as a way of sharing my experiences in Paris when I interned there during the Summer of 2006. Since then it has become a forum for all things awesome in the lives of my little family and I. Enjoy!

Les pirates des Caraïbes
Arrrr! Thar be Pirates in yonder fortress!! The Pirates of the Caribbean ride here is a lot like the one back home, but everything is done completely backwards. The first thing you see are the pirate prisoners trying to lure the dog over with the keys to get them out of jail. The last thing you see are the caves with the shipwrecks in them. It is a bit weird, and I think a lot of the story is lost when you see the pirates attack and then all the suddent they aren't there any more and everything is peaceful. Plus, I think my favorite part of the California pirates is that long stretch at the beginning where you just sort of float along and see the old guy fishing out of his little shore shack. None of that is there in Paris. All this, plus according to Sara, thing just don't smell the same. I'm not too sure about that, but things definitely were different, but not bad. The area around the ride is not set in New Orleans, rather on a little island complete with pirate ship, skull rock, and really queesy bridges suspended from one side to the other. All throughout the island are a system of caves that I think were built so that moms can send their husbands an sons on explorations while she and the girls buy princess outfits. The building behind Sara is where the non-smelly Pirates have taken over the island, all backwards of course. Generally, the rides in Paris aren't as good as those in California, but the landscaping and the "Magic" around the park are just as good or better. Can we go again Sara?

So did you know that they have changed the Pirates ride in Cali? It now contains Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones, and I think Captain Barbossa. I hear it's awesome, and I can't wait to go. Only 39 more days!
